CCV is offering Introduction to College Studies this summer for Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors. The porgram will be at the Upper Valley campus in Wilder, VT. For all high school students, UVM is looking for students to participate in their Startalk Vermont program to lean Chinese. They will have a two week residential program to help interest students in learning Chinese. See guidance for applications and more information.

Dartmouth College is holding a “College Learning Strategies Course” in July for juniors and seniors. This courses goal is to help students learn new and effective learning strategies to help them in college. See guidance for additional information.
May 15th: Applications for the “Program in Mathematics for Young Scientists” are due. The “Program in Mathematics for Young Scientists” is hosted by Boston University. It is a six week residential program for any highs school students with a passion in mathematics. See guidance for more information.
2012 Yearbooks were handed out last Friday May 11. Yearbooks are now $50 for all who are interested.

The Youth Managed Cafe in Wilder will host the 3rd annual h.ART Gallery on Saturday April 14, in memory of Hart Lipton. This event is an opportunity for young artists to sell their art work commission free. A wonderful night of great art and free food open to the public. The h.ART Gallery will be at Wilder Center, at the corner of Rt 5 and Gillette St. from 5:30 - 9 pm.

Guidance looking for students to submit resumes
CollegeQuest to health Careers is a free six-week residential program that will give juniors interested in a career in health care the chance to expand their knowledge. This program will be held at the college of St. Joseph in Rutland, from June 24- August 3. Application are open for juniors who are from modest income households or who would be the first in their family to attend college. See guidance for more information.

The Upper Valley Cinderella Project is allowing South Royalton girls to shop for free prom dresses, shoes, and accessories. A pop-up boutique is the Curves Building on route 5 in Hartford is open on Wednesday from 5:30-7:30 and Saturday 11-3.

The Upper Valley Cinderella Project invites SoRo girls to shop for free prom dresses, shoes and accessories. The collection inclues more than 250 short and long prom gowns in all sizes, shapes, and colors donated by generous women from all across the Upper Valley and Beyond. A pop-up boutique in the Curves Building on Route 5 in Hartford is open on Wednesdays from 5:30 - 7:30 PM and Saturdays from 11 - 3 PM.

The publications class published the first issue of the new, online, student magazine. It will be posted on the school's Facebook page and under the student life section of the school's website. It's currently called SoRo InFo but we're open to suggestions for a new name! Email Mrs. Wimett if you have an idea for a title!

Congratulations to the Bowling Team on a fine season, which concluded this past Saturday with a tough loss to Lyndon in the state tournament. -The JVG basketball game scheduled for this Saturday (2/25) has been cancelled. -The VG basketball game scheduled for this Saturday (2/25) has been moved to this Friday (2/24) starting at 6:00. -Congratulations to the MSB basketball team for winning the Tunbridge Tournament this past weekend. The MSG also fared well, placing 2nd.

MONOLOGUES AND IMPROV THEATRE www.thechelseafunnery.com In this workshop we create characters, write monologues as individuals and as a group. We IMPROVISE monologues and we will work with physical and vocal techniques to explore how to hold down the stage all by yourself, how to create rhythm and texture in a big, long chunk of text, and how to take your solo moment over the top and all the way to the Oscars! The workshop will run from 10-4 at the Chelsea Town Hall on February 26th, open to ages 12-19 The cost for the workshop is $45. Scholarships are available.
While our pasta bridge competitors did not place in the top 3 on the winners list, they did an excellent job. One of our groups came in 4th place. Their bridge held 49.7 pounds (which beats our 3rd place win from last year!) The bridges are on display in the lobby if you would like to see what our students created.
There is an opening reception and awards ceremony at the AVA Gallery in Lebanon, NH today from 5-7. The Best of the Upper Valley High School Art exhibit will be on display at AVA until March 9.
We are fortunate to have six students represent our school at the All State Music Festival this May. Being accepted into All State is like winning a state championship, so we are very proud of these students. It takes a lot of hard work and extra time preparing for these auditions and the competition is very high. Over 900 students across Vermont audition and they accept just under half. The AVA Gallery in Lebanon, NH is hosting the Fourth Annual Best of the Upper Valley High School Exhibition to celebrate the creative achievement of young people in the region. Nine students from South Royalton have submitted art work for this exhibit. You are all invited to attend an Opening Reception and Award Ceremony this Friday, February 17 from 5 to 7 pm. The exhibit will run from February 17 to March 9. The AVA Gallery is at 11 Bank Street, follow route 4 east from the Lebanon Green and the gallery is on the left.
Carnations are on sale in the lobby before and after school and in the cafeteria during lunch. They're $2 each. Flowers will be delivered during lunch on Valentine's Day.
