Welcome to Eighth Grade!


English
: Eighth grade students continue to develop abilities in literary comprehension and analysis. As they did in 7th grade, 8th graders read and write short stories, poems, and novels and write in several genres including persuasive and expository essays, research papers, and narratives. Grammar skills and vocabularies continue to build. (ext. 241)

Math: Students continue to work with the Connection Math curriculum and focus on pre-algebra in preparation for high school mathematics. (ext. 238)

Social Studies: Eighth grade students continue the study of American history they began in 7th grade. Their studies begin in the late 1860’s and continue through to the present day and current events. (ext. 241)

Science: Eighth grade science focuses upon chemistry and the study of the human body. (ext. 240)


French: 8th grade students earn high school foreign language credit in French 1. Class and coursework focuses on building conversational skills, broadening vocabulary, and applying grammar rules in oral and written communication. Projects including the delivery of a weather report, a fashion show presentation and a family tree presentation.
